Cab & Kabobs

September 4th, 2017 from noon to 4:30pm.  This event will include 2 grilled beef Kabobs and 2 side dishes with a purchase of a bottle of our Cabernet Sauvignon (or Chardonnay if you prefer whites).  Come and stay with us for the afternoon on the porch or courtyard.  No reservations required.

This is fun and popular event similar to our Syrah & Sausage Grill. No reservations needed, just come out and enjoy the festivities. Enjoy great music and food.

The Gilroy Garlic Festival

When I tell people that I’m from Gilroy, almost always their response is, “oh, the garlic place?”  The dedicated people of Gilroy have done an amazing job internationally in establishing our town as the Garlic Capital of the World.

On July 29-31, Gilroy will celebrate, what has been noted as, the largest culinary festival in the world…The Gilroy Garlic Festival.

My dad always said that garlic is Italian birth control…and once you eat for an entire day at the “Festival”, you will know why.  No one will want to get near you!

There are fabulous food vendors, art exhibits, live music events, childrens area, beer booths and of course the Rotary Wine Pavilion where only local wines are served.

Solis Winery will proudly be pouring at the Pavilion where all the net proceeds will given away by Rotary to local agencies and youth programs.

Backyard BBQ Hero (BBQ 101)

Learn how to become a Backyard BBQ Hero and impress your friends and family with your BBQ knowledge and skills.  In this class you will learn from two professional BBQ pitmasters all the basic skills you need to create flavorful BBQ and host successful backyard BBQ parties.

This class is ideal for those new to backyard BBQ as well as those who have already honed their skills but are looking to take their cooking to the next level.

Taught in an engaging and open format you will get to see hands on demonstrations of all stages of cooking from food prep through cooking and you will be able to sample the end product as we go along.  The class size will be kept small (30 max) to ensure you are able to see everything and ask questions of the knowledgeable instructors.

Topics for the class will include:

  • BBQ Equipment – Grills vs. Smokers
  • Fuels, Fire Control and Smoking Woods
  • BBQ Gadgets
  • Rubs, Sauces and Marinades
  • Popular BBQ Appetizers – Think bacon!
  • How to cook the perfect:
    • Burgers
    • Chicken
    • Steaks
    • Tri-tip
    • Pork ribs
  • Pairing BBQ With Wine – Sample Delicious Solis Wines With The Food We Cook!

In addition to sampling the items cooked in class, a special lunch featuring slow smoked Texas style BBQ beef brisket and Carolina style BBQ Pulled Pork will be served so you get to experience the full range of BBQ specialities.  No one goes home hungry!

About the Pitmasters:  Adam and Sherry Hollman of Gilroy, CA are the pitmasters behind the award winning Huminie’s Hogalicious BBQ professional competition BBQ team.  HHBBQ was the 2011 California Rookie Team of the Year and they have multiple Reserve Grand Championships and a Grand Championship under their belts.  In addition, in 2012 the team competed at The American Royal World Series of BBQ where they took 9th in Chicken, 11th in Ribs and tied for 5th overall in the world against 154 Grand Champion winning teams from around the world.
