SOLIS WINERY RINGS IN THE NEW YEAR WITH WINS AT
SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE WINE COMPETITION

GILROY, CA, January 13, 2010 –If the first week of 2010 is any indication, then it’s going to be a stellar year for Solis Winery. It started off the New Year with a bang, collecting three major awards at the 2010 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the largest American wine contest in the world.

The Santa Clara Valley winery was honored with Gold Medals for its 2008 Muscat Canelli, Estate ($12), as well as its 2009 Fiano, Estate ($18). Solis’ 2006 Merlot, Estate ($24) also stood out among thousands of entries, earning a Silver Medal.

“Receiving three top awards at such a reputable world competition is the perfect way to kick off our New Year,” said owner Vic Vanni. “I am especially proud that the varietals recognized are all estate wines, which are tremendously significant to our family tradition of growing and producing grapes. These honors truly inspire us to continue our practice of producing outstanding wine.”

Professional judging for the 2010 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition took place at the Cloverdale Citrus Fairgrounds in Sonoma County over five days, concluding on January 8. A panel of 63 professional wine experts, representing media, education, winemaking, retail, restaurant and hospitality industries throughout the United States, tasted and evaluated a world-record breaking 4,913 entries from across the country. Wine lovers will have the opportunity to taste Solis Winery’s acclaimed wines at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Public Tasting, to be held on February 20 at Fort Mason Center’s Festival Pavilion in San Francisco.
